ABSENCES, TARDIES, EXEMPTIONS
WHAT TYPE OF ABSENCE IS EXCUSED?
Absences are excused if a student attends a doctor/dentist appointment or court date and can provide documentation upon return. Students who are home ill are excused if the parent calls in for them on the day of the absence. (Students who are excessively absent due to illness will need a doctor’s note to excuse absences.) We also excuse absences for students to attend funerals of family members with funeral documentation (Funeral program/letter).
WHAT TYPE OF ABSENCE IS UNEXCUSED?
Going out of town, interviewing for a job, taking the driving test, visiting family, running errands, baby sitting, taking vacations, or other “personal” reasons are not considered excused absences; and students will not be permitted to make up assignments missed. Our expectation at PHS is that our students will be present every day that school is in session. Still, certain situations arise which require students to miss school. We ask that parents work with the school to keep those situations to a minimum. Please make every effort to schedule personal business appointments outside the school day.
TARDIES
All classes: Doors will be closed after the tardy bell. Any student not inside the classroom when the tardy bell stops ringing will be considered tardy. Within the first 10 minutes of class, students will report directly to classroom and sign in on the tardy sign in sheet. These incidents will have the following consequences.
Disciplinary Action — Starts over each 6-weeks
EXEMPTIONS
Any student in grades 9 - 12 may be exempt for the semester exam for that class, if the following requirements are met:
